I've been re-watching The West Wing from the beginning...
it is absolutely astounding to me that all these years later, we are still in the midst of the exact same Congressional Battles - Student Loans, Privacy, Immigration Reform, Offshore Banking…we have not advanced the People’s Agenda one whit since then…but man, isn’t Josiah Bartlett an awesome President? I wish Obama would take some lessons from him…Bartlett ran on a very Liberal platform, and as soon as he got into office he moved strongly to the Center…the one difference was that on The West Wing, the President is internally conflicted, and eventually decides to fight for what he REALLY believes in, rather than having all of his decisions be made in order to please his enemies. Big difference - Bartlett really WAS a Liberal….I fear Obama is, at best, a moderate Republican!

He departed from his house with no money. He left his cell phone at home, and bought a new one solely to use on Craigslist. He brought a laptop in a backpack, his phone, and the clothes on his back, left his home and all his friends behind and launched his experiment. He had met his cinematographer, Kevin, on Craigslist a week before. Joe spent the next 31 days doing the myriad of things one can find to do on Craigslist! I don't want to give too much away, but the things he found and how he survived (in style!) with the kindness and generosity of complete strangers is uplifting and heartwarming. Check it out!

At what point does the government get to adjudicate on behalf of a citizen, if we do not become citizens until AFTER we are born?
Roe v Wade was about protecting the rights of an actual, real, live citizen. These abortion laws seem to be fighting legal battles for non-citizens, or as yet, unborn citizens. Do we have that right?
I mean what “Citizen’s Rights” does an unborn child actually have? What if, when the time comes, the child is actually born in another country? What if this happens after the courts in the U.S. decided that the mother had to keep the unwanted child of, say a rapist, pedophile or relative?

Boehner declined to stand during several key moments of Obama's address, even while Vice President Joe Biden stood next to him. Those moments that did not move Boehner to his feet included bipartisan applause lines for enhancing childhood education, a vote on immigration reform, protecting the right to vote, honoring our wounded warriors and putting our country before our party.

U.S. Dept of Energy Secretary Steven Chu plans to dump 14,000 tons of radioactive scrap metal into the marketplace for use in the manufacturing of consumer products.1 This means that your everyday purchases, such as silverware, zippers, belt buckles, eyeglass frames, jewelry, watches, toys, pet bowls, and leashes could soon be made with radioactive scrap metal.
This action is being fast-tracked, with little regard for public comment. The deadline for a decision is this Monday, February 11.
That's why I created an emergency petition on SignOn.org to Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, which says:
Stop the Department of Energy plans to use 14,000 tons of radioactive scrap metals in the manufacturing of consumer products. There is no safe level of radiation. Keep nuclear waste out of my home and workplace!
